What CompareAI is

You already film the flat before you move out, or the rental car before you drive off. CompareAI turns that habit into structured, dated, verifiable evidence: the footage is organised by area, read by AI, and sealed into a report you can hand to a landlord, a rental desk, an insurer or a client.
What condition documentation means
Condition documentation is the practice of recording the state of a property, vehicle or item at a known date — normally once before a period of use and again after it — so that a later disagreement about damage is settled by evidence rather than by recollection. The record is only useful if the two halves match: the same areas, captured the same way, each carrying a date.
A tamper-evident report is one whose contents are fingerprinted when it is generated, so any later alteration can be detected. CompareAI Inspect uses SHA-256: each video and each report gets a hash, and the report's hash is recorded at the moment it is created. That does not prevent anyone from editing a file — it makes the edit provable, which is what matters when a document is handed to a landlord, an insurer or a hire company.

A project holds the thing you are documenting. Inside it, each area you film is a scan — and every scan has a Before phase and an After phase.

Tap the red button and film. You name the recording and file it into a project afterwards, so nothing stands between you and the thing you came to document.

Record the Before, then the After
Film a steady walkthrough of each area — pan slowly, keep the light good, cover the whole space. Then do the work, or let the rental period run, and film the After with the same scan name so the two pair up.

Export the report
One tap turns a project into a PDF: per-area findings, video thumbnails, timestamps and a verification fingerprint. Share it by email, message or AirDrop — every report is kept under Report history to re-open later.

Share a project
A tenant and a landlord can document the same place together. Invite by email; they can view it and add their own recordings, while only the owner can delete anything.
Verification anyone can run
Scan the QR code on the report, or paste its fingerprint at compareai.work/verify, and it confirms the document is the one CompareAI produced. No account needed — which is the point, since the person checking rarely has one.
Disagree on the record
The AI is sometimes wrong, and it is reading someone’s home. Tap a finding to mark it as not accurate or add your account of it — nothing is deleted, both appear on the PDF, and a report that shows the disagreement is worth more than one that hides it.
Say what matters out loud
Narrate while you film. “This crack was already here” is heard and used as context — though a defect still has to be visible to be reported.
Where, as well as when
Recordings are stamped with their location where the device can get a fix, and it is printed in the report and covered by its fingerprint.
A nudge for the After
The comparison only happens if you come back. Set a reminder on a project and your phone will tell you when it is time to film the After.

- Per-video SHA-256. Each recording is fingerprinted on upload; change one frame and the fingerprint no longer matches the report.

Questions worth asking
Why video instead of photos?
A photo proves one angle at one instant, and a dispute usually turns on the corner nobody photographed. A continuous walkthrough covers the whole space, shows the context around each mark, and is much harder to pass off as taken on a different day. It is the main thing that sets CompareAI apart from photo-based condition apps.
How does the app know what changed?
Each area you film is a named scan with a Before phase and an After phase. When you record an After, it is paired with the Before of the same name in that project, and both videos go to the AI together — so the result is a comparison, not a description. If a project has several Before scans, the app asks which area the new footage belongs to rather than guessing.
Is the AI always right?
No. It is an assistant, not an adjudicator: it reads the footage and drafts the findings so you do not have to write them up, and you should review them before sending a report. The evidence that carries weight is the timestamped video itself — the AI makes it legible.
What makes a report tamper-proof?
Every video is fingerprinted with SHA-256 when it uploads, and the exported PDF contains a hash covering all of the documented data — scans, findings and each video's fingerprint. That hash is also recorded on the server when the report is generated, so a PDF someone has edited will not match the record.
It is tamper-evident rather than magic: it does not stop anyone altering a file, it makes the alteration provable.
Who can see my videos?
Your footage is stored in a private bucket, inside a folder tied to your account, protected by row-level security — nobody else's account can read it, and the files are never public. Videos are sent to Google Gemini solely to produce the analysis for the scan you asked about. Full detail is in the Privacy Policy.
How long is footage kept?
Free accounts keep videos for 30 days; Pro keeps them for 12 months. The app shows the expiry date on each scan and a storage summary in your profile. Exported PDFs are not pruned on that schedule, so export a report before the window closes if the evidence still matters.
Does it work without a connection?
Capture does. Recordings are copied to a queue on the device and uploaded automatically once you are back online — the home screen shows anything still pending. AI analysis needs a connection, and runs as soon as the upload completes.
Can I delete my account and data?
Yes, from inside the app. Deletion removes your stored videos and reports along with the account. If you have a subscription, cancel it separately in your app store settings — deleting the account does not stop the billing.
Is there an Android version?
Not yet. CompareAI Inspect is out on the App Store for iPhone; an Android version is planned, and the Google Play link on this page goes live when it ships.
